Convert an Instagram Personal profile to a Business profile

Convert Instagram personal profile to business account

Updated over 2 months ago

Instagram offers three main profile types: Personal, Business, and Creator. All new Instagram accounts start as Personal by default, but you can convert your Personal profile to a Business profile at any time.

To connect your Instagram account to Confe.io and unlock advanced features—like scheduling posts and accessing deep analytics for your Instagram growth—you need a Business profile. Business profiles offer the most features and flexibility for managing your brand, products, or services.

Meta (the parent company of Instagram and Facebook) requires that your Business profile be connected to a Facebook Page. This connection is needed for permissions and access, even if you don’t plan to publish to Facebook.

Before You Begin

1. Check your current profile type:

  • Open your Instagram account and go to Settings.

  • Depending on your profile type, you’ll see:

    • Personal profiles: “Account types and tools”

    • Business profiles: “Business tools and controls”

2. You will need:

  • A Facebook Page to connect your Instagram profile to.

    • Only one Instagram profile can be connected to a Facebook Page, and vice versa.

    • If you don’t have a Facebook Page, you’ll need to create one:
      Create a Facebook Page

  • The right permissions on the Facebook Page:

  • Management access to the Page in your Business Manager account (if using Business Manager):
